For example, i f your server is running Windows Server 2012, you can upgrade it to Windows Server 2012 R2. You can upgrade from an evaluation version of the operating system to a retail version, from an older retail version to a newer version, or, in some cases, from a volume-licensed edition of the operating system to an ordinary retail edition. It's a Virtual Server in Vmware 5.5. And it has all the windows updates up to date. The first Try was inserting the Win. R2 ISO and tried the upgrade but this was the out put Compatibility Report: Windows Server 2012 Standard Evaluation cannot be upgraded to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (Server with a GUI).
You can choose to install a new copy of Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (Server with a GUI) instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings, and programs. You’ll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (Server with a GUI), click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner, and select “Custom (advanced)”. So I tried the second method From an elevated command prompt, determine the current edition name with the command DISM /online /Get-CurrentEdition. Make note of the edition ID, an abbreviated form of the edition name.

Hi The evaluation versions does not upgrade, just you could convert evaluation version to retail. Also check detailed article about 'Evaluation Versions and Upgrade Options for Windows Server 2012' Thanks for your Quick Replay. Since there It's no Other way, I decided that my only solution was to Find a Free (Temporary) Product Key (shame on me) on the web to Get to WS2012Sandard with the ' DISM /online /Set-Edition.'
Comand first and Then From there Upgrade to WS2012R2 With the Product Key I purchase. At this time I am finally Installing the Upgrade to WS2012R2 With the ISO method mention above. Conclusion Win.
